Chanel Spring 2017 Couture Show

Karl Lagerfeld does it again! As the master of fashion innovation, Lagerfeld has managed to reinvent fashion as Chanel’s creative director year after year. Soon it will be 34 years since he first joined Chanel – in 1983 – and we are grateful for his contribution to fashion. And Karl Lagerfeld’s creativity hasn’t slowed down. For the Chanel Spring 2017 Couture Show this year, Karl Lagerfeld chose an incredibly shiny mirrored runway as a play on rare self-reflection, and narcissism in the industry. The show was also a tribute to Coco Chanel who once had a mirrored stairway in her studio. Compared to past years, the show went back to basics and contained an original Chanel look that we haven’t seen in a long time. There was an emphasis on the tailoring of the Chanel suit and the evening gowns included feathers and glittery fitted silhouettes. As expected by Lagerfeld’s interest in Instagram girls, some of the most recognized models included Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Lily-Rose Depp, who is the daughter of actor Johnny Depp. Lily-Rose Depp was perhaps the most remembered model as she had the honor of closing the show in a voluminous ruffled soft pink bridal gown with Karl Lagerfeld on her arm as they walked down the runway together. Some of the attendees of the grand show included actress Laura Smet, Chinese model Lui Wen, actress Ellie Bamber, actress Anna Mouglalis, and Alma Jodorowsky the granddaughter of the infamous director Alejandro Jorowsky.
