Academy of Art University New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011

The Academy of Art Institute, based in San Francisco had it’s 10th biannual collection shown during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York. Most notable collections were Stephanie Gelot, Hurst Chang Wei and Jonathan David Baker.

Student, Stephanie Gelot, a graphic design and knitwear student gained the attention of many for incorporating prints and patterns into large chunky knits, perfect for fall.

Hurst Chang-Wei, a fashion design major was noted for her use of chain-mail in several pieces, including a long slim skirt.

Johnathan David Becker of the fashion design and knitwear major also incorporated large knits into his collection. Also, on trend, included the use of pleating in layers of skirting. David’s collection had hints of London grunge.
