Dark and Elaborate, Gilles Mendel Dances from Ballet-Influenced Look to a Menswear-Inspired Collection for J Mendel Fall/Winter 2011

J. Mendel

Replete with his own new line of shoes (including suede peep-toe

embellished booties with skinny heels and fur boots), Gilles Mendel’s

show featured such chic items as turtlenecks, tailored pants and three

-quarter length coats.

Gilles Mendel was inspired by tribal body art and the intricate ironwork of architect Jean Prouvé.

Dripping in sumptuous materials like satin, beading, mink and fox, this

season deviated from his airy, flowing frocks from past collections.

Sensual yet basic, Mendel produced a collection of simple elegance.
