Black Tie/Hot Metal – amfAR Event at MoMA in New York Honors James Franco and Michael Kors

All in one New York evening, celebs and designers came together at MoMA Tuesday evening to raise more than $700k for amfAR at The 2nd Annual Inspiration Gala New York.

Grammy and Academy-Award winning performer, Jennifer Hudson launched the evening’s entertainment with “I Am Changing” from the film Dreamgirls. Courtney Love covered the Stones’ “Under My Thumb” and Liza Minnelli wrapped it up as only Liza can.

The night was a celebration of men’s style. On the runway were original designs inspired by the evening’s theme from venerable designers, Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, YSL, JP Gaultier, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Hugo Boss, and more.

James Franco’s friend Ryan Trecartin presented Franco with the Piaget Award of Inspiration for his humanitarian work and contributions to men’s style.

“I’ve had many people in my life who were affected by AIDS,” said Franco–after receiving the award, “and organizations like amfAR have helped friends of mine get the treatment they need.”

In a deep cut, teal, Michael Kors gown, Heidi Klum presented amfAR Chairman, Michael Kors with the amfAR Award of Courage.

The Inspiration series for amfAR continues with Fergie, Marc Jacobs and the legendary “Paris-Fashion-Party” officiators–Marc Zaffuto and Emmanual d’Orazio, for more Black Tie/Hot Metal inspiration at Pavilion Gabriel in Paris, Thursday June 23rd.

amfAR is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education, and the advocacy of sound AIDS related public policy. Dame Elizabeth Taylor was the Founding National Chairman.
