Donatella Rock-n-Rolls for H&M


Donatella Versace proves that you can go home again.

The Versace Group vice-president and chief designer has designed capsule collections for retail giant Hennes & Mouritz AB (H&M) for late fall 2011 that reprise some of the brand’s most renowned, historic elements–many inaugurated by her brother, legendary designer Gianni Versace.

“The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere,” said Donatella, “I’m going to use iconic Versace pieces of iconic Versace moments.”

Starting November 17, the Versace capsule collection will be available at some 300 H&M locations representing approximately 12% of the 2,200 retail outlets that the Swedish giant owns.

“Donatella Versace is sharing with us iconic designs from the archives. This is such a celebratory collaboration and it is perfect for the party season,” Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M said in a statement.

Donatella mused, “We’re going to be gold, we’re going to be glamorous, we’re going to be exciting–Rock-n-Roll!” She is bringing out the Versace prints, the leather and the studs.

Earlier this week at Milan’s Villa della Spiaga, Donatella presaged the collection by donning a skintight, gold-studded, stretch black leather creation for the fall lineup.

Judging by previous collaborations with designers such as Stella McCartney, Jimmy Choo and Karl Lagerfeld, our guess is that Donatella’s designs will “Rock-n-Roll” right off the shelves in another sell-out success story for H&M.
