Manicure Madness–Choice of Two “Polished” Looks Inspired by Cocktails or Miss Universe Pageant

Miss Universe OPI 2011 Nail Color

Nail color producers OPI and Mattése Elite have had a “hand” in shaking up the manicure mix this year, and it’s difficult to “nail” down which of two delicious options we want to experiment with first!

First — do you need a cocktail AND a polish change? How about combining them?

“Happy Hour” — Mattése Elite’s new nail polish collection draws on the enticing smells and aesthetics of classic alcoholic beverages. The six neon shades dry down to their own cocktail-inspired scent.

For only $5.99 a “bottle,” the collection includes enchanting scents such as “Cosmopolitan,” “Hypnotic,” “Purple Passion,” “Tequila Sunrise,” “Shirley Temple,” and “Apple Martini.” These non-alcoholic shots of color are available at Ricky’s and Refinery 29.

And second, giving Miss Universe pageant contestants yet another reason to smile, OPI was named the official nail care sponsor for the annual beauty competition.

To celebrate, the company has released its “Miss Universe” collection–a four color collection with the following entrants: “Congeniality is my Middle Name” — a sparkly berry-wine hue), “It’s MY Year” — a soft champagne rose), “Swimsuit…Nailed It!” — a bright, shiny blue), and “Crown Me Already!” — a glam, glittery silver color.

Blending perfectly with the pageant theme, these polishes are fit for a queen, replete with shimmer and glitz. You can crown your nails with these punches of color starting in early August ($8.50 each).

Here’s a toast to staying polished–cheers!
