The newly married royal power-couple — Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, added star-power and panache at the British Academy of Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) — the “Brits to Watch Award” ceremony, on Saturday, July 9th at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles.

Having made the trip across the pond to sunny California–it was Kate’s first visit to the United States, the princess looked effortlessly chic in a pleated, lilac Alexander McQueen gown with a sparkly, light silver waistband.

The McQueen-loving regal beauty was fashion perfection–her long, brunette hair styled in her signature loose, romantic waves. Kate also wore luxurious diamond earrings lent to her by Queen Elizabeth. Middleton deviated from her classic pale-pump predilection and opted instead for “Cinderella-esque,” glittery, Jimmy Choo Vamp sandal stiletto heels featuring double crisscrossing straps. Her dapper husband Prince William looked handsome in a sleek black and white tuxedo. The Duke of Cambridge, 29, was elected as the fifth president of BAFTA back in February 2010.

Sporting a more edgy look was actress Dana Delany, who wore a baroque print Prada dress adorned with an orange and black striped Prada fur stole and a striped blue and green Prada clutch — from head to toe, “The Dana Wears Prada!”

Fresh-faced mother of two, Jennifer Garner dazzled in a navy blue draped satin gown. Blake Lively was a sensual, feminine goddess in a stunning one-shoulder Spring 2011 Marchesa gown with a draped trail and gauzy layer.

Indeed, the stars came out in full regalia–Elizabeth Banks embodied glamour in a Fall 2011 white Versace gown accented with the brand’s signature Medusa via gold buttons, Zooey Deschanel wowed onlookers in a blush, silk organza, embroidered Oscar de la Renta Fall 2011 cocktail dress, and Nicole Kidman glided across the red carpet in a sleek, eye-catching silver-hued blue Elie Saab couture gown.

Jennifer Lopez revealed her amazing figure and enviable abs in a full-length, cut-out dark combat green Fall 2011 Emilio Pucci gown with one ornately sequined gold sleeve. And age-defying actress Mary Louise Parker’s red mermaid gown flattered her slender body and the color complemented her ivory skin.

While this red carpet extravaganza was called the “Brits to Watch Award” ceremony, it seems the majority of the attendees–excluding the trend-setting Kate and her Prince of a husband–were visions of sartorial splendor emanating from Hollywood.
