Style Sisters — Kate and Di — Generations Apart — Sizzle in Strapless Gowns

The Dutchess of Cambridge, the former Catherine Middleton, appears to be following in the “fashion-wake of her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, who set a standard of pulchritude and finesse that captured the world.

Diana’s strapless, black, silk taffeta dress–designed by Elizabeth David Emanuel dress looks like a precursor to Catherine’s Sarah Burton one–both were spectacularly riveting and boosted the soignee-factor of the wearers.

At the Sun Military Awards on Monday–the ‘Millies’ as they are affectionately called, honoring military officers–Kate stunned the crowd in a figure-hugging Alexander McQueen strapless, ruffled bodice gown with a fishtail hem that channeled Diana’s from 30 years ago.

And add some diamond necklaces and bracelets–which both women wore–and you have the makings of a majestic second entrance.

Baby-bump rumors aside–the Dutchess was rail-thin–but glowing. She’s never looked better.
