Raf Simons Dazzling Debut – Christian Dior Couture Runway Show in Paris

Fresh flowers embellished the walls of the House of Dior and created a fresh atmosphere for change—and change it was, as new Creative Director married the old and the new in his inaugural Haute Couture collection.

Simons simultaneously paid tribute to Christian Dior’s love of flowers, showcasing the house’s iconic silhouettes and feminine flourishes, while admixing the past with his own vision—a futuristic and romantic collection. He opened the show with chic tuxedos and cigarette pants and triumphantly closed it with long organza and tulle dresses with their backs embroidered with delicate flowers.

With his take on Dior’s innovative 1940s “flower women,” the Belgian designer is already flourishing in the realm of haute couture, winning raves from both fashion critics and aficionados alike.
