Valentino: II Maestro è tornato

We have missed Valentino’s resplendent designs since his retirement four years ago, and the foremost Italian couturier has been long overdue in gracing us with his fabulous creations. Fortunately, “Valentino-istas” will soon be in for a special treat…

On November 29, over 130 couture Valentino designs will be displayed at Somerset House – the main site for London Fashion Week – in an exhibit called “Valentino: Master of the Couture.”

Creations displayed in the retrospective will include past eveningwear pieces for style icons such as Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren, as well as Julia Roberts’ stunning monochrome Oscar gown and the elegant wedding dress of Marie-Chantal, Crown Princess of Greece. Visitors will have the pleasure of observing these designs along a 60-meter catwalk, which will bear a collection of gowns, trouser suits, miniskirts, capes and caftans.

Regarding the significance of the exhibition, Valentino revealed, “Each of these designs have a beautiful story […] The dresses have rarely been seen, so to be able to showcase these designs at Somerset House, where they can be seen in great detail by the public is very unique.”

“Valentino: Master of Couture” opens at Somerset House on November 29 and will continue until March 3, 2013.
