Hi Lives of Style audience! It’s Michael.  I’m glad I can answer some of your questions.

Stephanie from San Francisco has a hair problem request, and I thought I’d lead off my “Mondays with Michael” blog with it today.

Hi Michael,
My hair isn’t that long but it’s damaged.  I highlight it and straighten it because it’s curly.  I don’t want to cut it all off and the ends need a big trim.  What can I do?

Hi Stephanie,

This is a common problem with people coloring their hair today.  First, I suggest using a deep conditioner daily.  Try Kerastase Age Recharge Masque in your daily regimen until the hair is repaired.

Moving forward I recommend clients apply Kerastase Ciment Thermique before blowdrying or using hot irons.  It’s an excellent leave in conditioner and heat protector.

When it comes to serious breakage and you just wont cut off those few inches of damage there is a way to get the broken ends back on track.  My favorite treatment for breakage is Chronologiste treatment also from Kerastase.  This product volumizes, hydrates, stregnthens, repairs, smooths, adds shine and offers UV protection all in one step.

An easy at home remedy for breakage is a moisture bath for your hair.  Blend together an avocado with almond oil and vitamin E oil and let it soak onto the hair before you shampoo and condition.

Thanks Stephanie and to all of you.  Please send me your hair questions and email me at
