At the beginning of the year many people are searching for a new look and I get this question quite often so I wanted to address Amanda’s question today.

Hi Michael,

I need help!! I just cut my hair what can I do with my color? Can I go lighter? Should I do more to highlight my face?

Thanks!

Lesley

Hi Lesley,

This is a great question because a lot of the stars are cutting their hair short these days. One thing you want to keep in mind is that short hair needs more help to make it look feminine.

You can alter the color but you might need to emphasize the movement or make it more edgy.  It doesn’t always mean that we have to add more highlights, we could just soften the color.

We can also use “tipping,” which is when you bleach the tips to make it look like there is more texture. For most pixie cuts we use that process to give it the illusion of more movement and texture. We also use more gels—anything to add texture, movement and more dimension.

Anyone can send in questions so please email me at michael@livesofstyle.com

Until next Monday!

Michael
