The Eyes Have It For Spring

Romero Jennings–Senior Make-Up Artist for MAC Cosmetics, sat down with Lives of Style back stage at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week to give us the inside scoop on how to get the ultimate cat-eye.

Elisabeth: What do you do to get a dramatic eye?

Romero: What we are using is a deep brown paint pot color like Constructivist as a base for the eye. It’s being applied as a liner and I’m using soft brush. Just apply the liner on top. Then I’m blending two mineralized shadows together to get that beautiful sparkle. So the shape is elongated and it’s paired with a pound and a half of mascara! A lot.

Elisabeth: The eye is lined all the way to the inner corner–it’s not half way out. That makes the entire eyes very intense and extremely dramatic.

Romero: It’s going to be really a really intense look, but it’s something that a woman can wear every day by mixing two products together. It’s going to last–it’s going to stay in place. Put a lot of mascara on the top and bottom. And keep the lips really simple so the focus is the eye.

Elisabeth: So the natural eye is “gone gone gone,” correct?

Romero: It is gone. It’s all about having power for spring
