New York Fashion Week- Why We Love Reem Acra

Ethereal garments, that truly make a woman unforgettable.

That is the norm for Reem Acra and her designs.

Beginning in 1997—with a bridal line, it is no wonder that her elegant, classically sumptuous ready-to-wear collection follows closely upon with the magic and wonder of wedding gowns.

Acra is known for expressing clients’ personalities through the gown she designs for them, and because of that she has created gowns for multitudes of celebrity weddings as well as red carpet appearances.

Celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Kristen Stewart, Jane Fonda, Kate Hudson, Katherine Heigl, Selena Gomez and Eva Longoria are just a few who wear Reem Acra.

Acra grew up in Beirut where her mother taught her about draping and how fabrics performed.

She was discovered while wearing her mother’s tablecloth-turned dress–and through this twist of fate, she was prompted to study at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York as well as its Paris satellite location.

Acra credits America for all of her success and accomplishments, and claims that without this country she would not be the designer we know today.

The real notoriety began when Acra designed a friend’s wedding dress. That friend happened to be a Saudi Princess and Acra gained media attention for the designer and her talent. Six years after launching her bridal line, Acra was able to transfer her gift for bridal to ready to wear. Yet again she was able to make garments that bring out the inner beauty of the woman wearing it, and supply an elegantly feminine look, while being whimsical and sexy at the same time.

Lives of Style first met Reem Acra three years ago—when she was building and expanding her brand at New York Fashion Week….and we’ve followed her closely through the years.

We love Reem Acra so much our co-executive producer—Erin, wore a Reem Acra gown for her storied wedding at San Ysidro Ranch, in California.

Reem Acra truly knows how dress a woman to be show-stopping and strong all at the same time.

She combines her expertise in embroidery and beading to make some of the most elegant gowns in the industry.

We cannot wait to see the magical designs that will be revealed in Reem Acra’s Spring-Summer 2015 collection.
